Please Read: This year the VCBF is registering by session rather than the entire day. Our system requires that each class be registered separately using the classroom teacher’s email. Below you will find the sessions with a ‘register’ button for each. If one person is handling the registration for their entire school, you will need to register each classroom separately for each session they wish to attend, using the classroom teacher’s email. If you have questions, or need assistance please email registration@vachildrensbookfestival.org

Session 1

9:30am-10:30am

Session 2

10:45am-11:45am

session 3

1:15pm-2:00pm

Lunch

Lunch time is built in between sessions 2 & 3. You may eat lunch at the site of your second session or on any one of Longwood’s beautiful lawns, weather permitting. VCBF attendees are not permitted to eat in Longwood’s dining hall.

vcbf book store

The VCBF book store is operated by Chop Suey Books and is located in the lower level of Lankford. The book store will be open all day, but book store time is built in for your day between sessions 2 & 3. Once you are done at the book store and book signings, there will be activities behind Lankford for VCBF attendees.

book signings

Authors will be signing books in the lower level of Lankford directly next to our festival book store. Authors have to eat lunch too, so book signings will occur from 12:30pm-1:00pm. We ask that you DO NOT ask authors to sign books at the end of their sessions, as they must immediately prepare for their next program and time is very limited.

ada accommodations

Request ADA accommodations five business days in advance at (434) 395-2391 or disabilityresources@longwood.edu.

How to be kind

With his trademark bright colors and bold lines, Todd Parr takes on a topic more important than ever: being kind to each other. This idea is both a perfect fit for Todd’s cheerful, child-friendly positivity and incredibly close to Todd’s own heart. No matter what other people choose to do, you can always choose to be kind — and what a wonderful thing to be! Today’s parents and teachers are looking for ways to instill empathy and kindness in children at a young age — this book is the perfect introduction to a timely and timeless topic.
