Join us for the heartwarming musical story for narration and piano, based on the 1934 picture book “Babar the Elephant” (Jean de Brunhoff, 1899-1937), and composed by the French composer Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) in 1940. The performance will include a display of the book’s illustrations on a large screen, letting the audience enjoy a collaboration between music, words, and pictures. A musical “petting zoo” will also be available for children to try different instruments Music will be performed by the Longwood Center for Community Music, and narration will be done by the director of the Summer Garden Opera, Christopher Swanson.
